ST GILES SOLSTICE WALK GETS A HEALTH KICK FROM LEADING LICHFIELD COMPANY
The main sponsor of the 2012 St Giles Hospice Solstice Walk is urging local women to help make this year’s night-time stroll around Lichfield the most successful yet.
For the third year in a row, the UK’s leading prepared salad specialist Florette, based in Lichfield, is backing the women-only charity walk, which is St Giles’ biggest single fundraising event and has raised more than £370,000 for the hospice since it started in 2007.
Florette’s generous sponsorship of the Solstice Walk helps St Giles to keep costs for the event to a minimum – ensuring that all proceeds can go towards caring for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses.
Brand manager Niki Webster now hopes as many people as possible will join the hundreds already signed up and getting their fairy-themed fancy dress costumes ready to complete the 9-mile walk through Lichfield’s streets on Saturday 23rd June.
The 2012 Solstice Walk takes place from 10pm on Saturday 23rd June and is a high-spirited night-time walk covering two 4.5-mile circuits of the cathedral city’s streets. Entry is £15 per walker and is only open to women aged 16 and over, although men are welcome to volunteer as stewards.
Local people can sign up for the Solstice Walk by visiting www.stgileshospice.com/solsticewalk, by calling Jenni Dawson on 01543 432542, or emailing jenni.dawson@st-giles-hospice.org.uk.

SUNDAY 10 JUNE 2012 - GREAT MIDLANDS FUN RUN
Registration for this years 10th anniversary Great Midlands Fun Run has opened online.
One thousand fun runners have already signed up for the annual event and with ‘in person’ registration launched today the speed of uptake will no doubt continue to rocket.
In celebration of ten years of the 8.5 mile fun run the entry limit has been increased to 7,000 but at the current rate of uptake it is unlikely that registration will stay open until the official deadline in March. We would therefore recommend that people sign up sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
